With Super Bowl 50 around the corner, we thought it might be fun to look at some of our favorite car commercials from the past two Super Bowls and see which were most effective in driving interest in specific brands and vehicles.

We looked at requests for each vehicle featured in the ads over the same period of time before and after each Super Bowl to find which ads drove the biggest increase in interest among Cartelligent clients. With the caveat that many factors besides Super Bowl ads serve to drive demand for specific vehicles, we present our findings below (with the corresponding commercials).

10. Lexus NX, “Make Some Noise,” 2015 Super Bowl

This 2015 ad for the highly anticipated NX mid-sized SUV succeeded in creating a modest 3% increase in inquiries for the model.

9. Jaguar F-TYPE, “British Villains,” 2014 Super Bowl

Jaguar’s fiendishly clever “British Villains” spot only increased inquiries for the F-TYPE by 5%, but overall requests for Jaguars soared to almost double following its release.

8. Ford Fusion Hybrid, “Nearly Double,” 2014 Super Bowl

Ford’s “Nearly Double” spot drove home the point that the Ford Fusion Hybrid offered close to double the fuel economy of other cars in its class and Fusion inquiries rose by 7%.

7. Audi A3, “Doberhuahua,” 2014 Super Bowl

Audi’s uncompromising “Doberhuahua” ad brought a 31% increase in requests for the new A3.

Toyota’s zany sing-a-long featuring Terry Crews and the Muppets brought a 54% surge in Highlander inquiries.
