Leasing a car is a viable, and sometimes less expensive, option for drivers to put a new vehicle in their garage. Around one-fifth (20%) of all new cars in the United States were leased in 2022, down from around one-third (34%) in 2017.

Surprisingly, there are far more leases for pickup trucks versus cars in the United States. In 2021, nearly 2.5 million trucks were leased versus slightly less than 1 million cars.

Find out which car brands are most often leased in the United States with our handy guide. Most of them are luxury brands because luxury car leases allow drivers to get brand-new cars every couple of years with the latest and greatest automotive technology. Plus, leasing is often more affordable than getting a new vehicle loan.

Which Car Brands Are Most Often Leased in General?

As of the fourth quarter of 2021, Honda is the most leased car brand in the United States, with 11.3 percent of new vehicle leases going for a Honda. Second was Ford, with 8.75 percent, which makes sense for light trucks.

The rest of these numbers come from Cartelligent’s proprietary numbers. You’ll see that many of them are the best car brands to lease, and they are luxury car leases.
